es ist soweit..in 2 tagen wird die mutter aller europäischen flughäfen..der flughafen tempelhof wird nach 85 jahren geschlossen. schon 1909 machte orville wright von hier aus rekordflüge. das ab 1936 entstandene flughafengebäude war mit seiner bruttofläche von 284.000 m² seinerzeit das flächengrößte gebäude der welt. heute zählt es zu den zwanzig größten und längsten gebäuden europas und der welt.
morgen abend werden sich die berliner bonzen samt unseres bürgermeisters in tempelhof treffen, um auf den meinungen und volksabstimmungen für den erhalt des flughafens tempelhof feierlich rumzutrampeln..natuerlich unter sich...
ungeheurlich, so empfinde ich und tausende westberliner.
seit dem mauerfall tritt man das erbe des flughafens tempelhof mit füssen, indem man ihn disst, während touribusse russendenkmäler anfahren.
was ein hohn, was für eine arroganz und überheblichkeit. der flughafen tempelhof steht seit ende des 2. weltkriegs für freiheit und den unbeirrbaren kampf um unabhaengigkeit..die luftbrücke vom 26. juni 1948 bis 12. mai 1949 - bei der die versorgungsflugzeuge teilweise im 90-sekundentakt in tempelhof starteten und landeten - forderte 79 tote piloten unter den alliierten, die ihr leben für die freiheit westberlins ließen. helden bis heute ! die westberliner, die ihre stadt liebten und nicht in russische hände abgeben wollten, blieben, kämpften, hungerten und starben für diese stadt. das überleben ermöglichte ihnen in diesen zeiten tempelhof, der zentrale anflugort der rosinenbomber. für abertausende steht und stand dieser flughafen seitdem für ein freies westberlin. blick ich zurueck auf die 80er jahre, in denen ich im osten inhaftiert war, muss ich sagen, dass eins der ziele, das mich hat überleben lassen war: westberlin und eben diese geschichte zu sehen. weg von halbrussen, die ausser ja-sagen nichts konnten und sich ddr nannten.
der flughafen wird geschlossen, das kann mann nun nicht mehr ändern, aber weltweit unterschreiben leute hier listen, um den flughafen zum weltkulturerbe zu machen und nicht zum kinderspielplatz, bauruine oder spekulationsobjekt: http://www.tempelhof-weltkulturerbe.de/
morgen abend ab 18 uhr findet eine gegendemonstration gegen die leichenfeier der berliner "vips" am platz der luftbrücke statt..

tomorrow evening the berlin fat-cats including our mayor will meet at tempelhof to celebrate their ignorance of the citizens´ opinion and numerous referendums. of course, this will be a private party...
terrible, that´s what i and a couple of thousand west-berliners think about it.
since the wall has come down, the heritage of tempelhof airport has been used as a doormat, with tourist busses stopping at russian memorials instead. pure scorn and arrogance. since the end of WWII tempelhof airport is a symbol of freedom and the steady fight for independece. the berlin airlift from june 26th 1948 til may 12th 1949 - during which the planes supplying west-berlin citizens with food, coal, etc. sometimes landed every 90 seconds - has claimed 79 allied pilots lives who have died for the freedom of west-berlin. they are still heroes today! the citizens of west-berlin didn´t want to lose their town to russian military, so they stayed and fighted, starved and died for this city. only tempelhof with its starting and landing candy bombers let them survive. for many many people this airport is a symbol of a free west-berlin. looking back on the 1980s when i was a political prisoner in east germany, i have to tell you that one of the reasons for me to stay alive was the hope to see west-berlin with its unequalled history one day. all i wanted was to leave this country of half-russian stooges that called itself gdr.
well, the airport will be closed down, no doubt about that. but people around the world are signing lists right now to achieve the declaration of tempelhof airport as world cultural heritage. they want to avoid a destiny of becoming an object of speculation, or a children´s playground, or only an abandoned building. petition lists are to be found here: http://www.tempelhof-weltkulturerbe.de/
